If you say "I am rank 1 on Leagues" three times into a mirror, there is a decent chance Solo Mission appears. So we seized the opportunity and sat him down for a long chat about Leagues, All Stars, Grid Master, and what it means to build content that is both brutally competitive and easy to follow. Across the episode we dig into why simple concepts often win, how Solo thinks about designing formats people actually finish, and what it takes to lock in when every hour, tile and tick matters. Along the way we also zoom out to talk about the modern creator landscape, the 2019 to 2022 boom, and how he has navigated making Old School his full time job without losing the fun.
If you are into high level temporary game modes, content design talk with a creator brain and a game designer brain in the same head, or you just like hearing how someone turns obsession into something watchable, this one is for you.
What to expect in this episode:
- Simple concepts, big stakes: Why clean, instantly understandable rules make for the best Leagues and All Stars formats, and how Solo trims ideas down until anyone can follow the action.
- Building a season people actually finish: The push and pull between hardcore grinds, casual players, and making sure a mode stays fun on day 30, not just day 1.
- Competitive edge: How coming from hyper competitive backgrounds shaped Solo Mission’s approach to Leagues, playing the villain, and dealing with pressure when rank 1 is on the line.
- Creator reality check: A candid look at how content creation has changed since the 2019 to 2022 boom, the rise of sponsorships and thumbnails, and what Solo would do if he was starting from scratch today.
- Drop tables, design and the “OSRS feel”: Viewing drop rates like a stock market, frustrations with certain grinds, and where he thinks Old School hits or misses on progression and reward structure.

Next time we are joined by the one and only B0aty for a proper trip through Old School history, PvP, and hardcore account pain. From his early days making PvP videos in 2010, through the Deadman era and the rise of streaming, to his current grandmaster combat achievements on a Hardcore Ironman, we cover what has kept him hooked for more than a decade.
We also talk about how the skill ceiling in PvP has exploded, why watching new players stumble through Gielinor is still magic, and how it feels to miss day 1 of Grid Master after twelve years of being live for every big update. If you have ever watched “old B0aty vs new B0aty” debates, wondered how he deals with the same questions in chat for ten years straight, or just want to hear why he thinks Old School is in the best place it has ever been, you will not want to miss it.
We hope you enjoy this episode, and you can look forward to Episode 8 with B0aty on December 28th, followed by episodes with Torvesta & Skill Specs, and Mod Ash.
