Your TL:DR of all the big Winter Summit beats... Plus a few bonus extras.
It's finally time to talk about Old School's fourth raid: The Fractured Archive!
If you can't see the video above, click here to open it in a new tab!
While we're intentionally keeping things brief for now, we can say that The Fractured Archive will see you venturing into a veritable treasure trove that's full to the brim with powerful artifacts and ancient knowledge, assembled by Guthix himself over the course of millennia. Unfortunately for you - much like a line of fires snaking along Varrock - word spreads fast in Gielinor, meaning you're far from being the first to set foot in the archive.
As you journey throughout these ancient halls, you'll encounter agents of other gods, curious creatures, Guthixian guardians and more - it's up to you (and up to seven friends) to stop the contents of the archive from falling into the wrong hands. Simple!
Our dedicated Summit blog gives you more details, plus some hot-off-the-press concept art, so make sure to give it a read, here. However, we wanted to give you some top level details for those of you spacebaring through the reveals!
- We're taking a Theatre of Blood-styled approach this time around, meaning you'll face a bunch of demibosses, encounter no puzzle rooms, and have an epic showdown with a final boss: it's just you, your friends and the fight of your lives.
- Players will be able to solo the raid, though our current plan (subject to change) is for the raid to scale between 2 and 8 players, meaning solo clears will be possible, but difficult.
- There will be a practice mode which allows players to jump into any boss in the raid and practice killing it on the regular difficulty. However, this mode will not be available on release, and will instead launch in the weeks following the raid's release. This will help keep things competitive in the early days and add more excitement to every deep run until the raid has been 'figured out'.
- On release, a full team wipe will reset the raid. In the weeks following the release, we'll move to a TOA-style wipe system where you have infinite tries but reduced rewards and dwindling resources.
- Accessing the Fractured Archive will require completion of While Guthix Sleeps. We know that this would prohibit some builds from accessing the encounter, but we'll talk more about accommodating all players in a future blog, so we'd advise you not to worry!
That's all you're getting for the time being, so make sure to keep an eye out throughout 2026 for more blogs, polls and sneak peeks at Raids IV: The Fractured Archive, releasing late 2026!
Leagues is back but let's not beat around the bush, you already knew this was coming, right? So much so, that Yama has taken a keen interest this time around and has decided that you and The Sage shouldn't have all the fun!
That's right, in an apt move for the sixth League we're going demonic in theme as we cleanse ourselves with hellfire and commit to a deadly entity for power beyond all normal possibility.
If you can't see the video above, click here
As always, you'll be met with a roster of tasks, powerful Relics (new, reworked, and returning), region-locking, and of course some interesting new changes! And we're not too far away from it either as this April you'll be able to jump back into this fun and frantic gamemode.
Our detailed Summit blog gives you a rundown of the top-level info you need to know, including a rundown on what a League is, some insight on what's making a comeback and where we've upped the heat with new features. Plus, we discuss the red-hot rewards we're brewing up. As always we'll be keeping some things close to our chest so we can drop plenty of teasers, hints and information for you over the coming months.
Before we forget, make sure to check out the Leagues Discord server to join your fellow League lovers in theorycrafting, speculation, and feedback. There's always plenty of fun to be had there whenever a gamemode is afoot!
Polls will be open to have your say on all our proposed rewards following the Winter Summit 2026 livestream.
This is your reminder that Deadman: Annihilation kicks off on Friday, January 30th!
You'll have from January 30th until February 20th to gear up for an epic finale - do you have what it takes to be the last player standing?!
To get yourself up to speed, you can check out our detailed overview blog here, for information on the Finale format and specific changes to Sigils, check out this blog! If you don't have time to check out a separate blog, here's a handy details of the most important bits:
- Earn Deadman Points through just about any activity you can think of: PvM, Skilling, completing Quests, completing Achievement Diaries/Combat Achievements, completing Clue scrolls, you name it! Then trade those points for exclusive (tradeable) cosmetics in the main game including the Wilderness POH Kit, a new Home teleport animation, and recolours for the Toxic Staff of the Dead, Bow of Faerdhinen and Crystal Armour!
- Bank keys are no more! This time around, you'll only risk what you've got on you, but there's no use hiding expensive gear in your inventory because your risked wealth will be symbolised by coloured skulls above your character, similar to Bounty Hunter.
- While killing NPCs, you might stumble across a Deadman's Chest as a rare drop. This chest takes 60 seconds (30 seconds in multi-combat) to open, so you'll need to stand your ground to claim your treasure, but stand to be handsomely rewarded with powerful items - including tweaked versions of the Dogsword and the Thunder Khopesh.
- Sigils are no longer RNG drops to be bought and sold on the Grand Exchange. Instead, use the Deadman's Skull to pull up a shop UI where you can spend your hard-earned Deadman points to buy whichever Sigils you'd like.
- Non-combat Sigils no longer require attuning, meaning you can unlock them with points and enjoy their benefits forever, regardless of your setup. This means you're free to rock your chosen Combat Sigils at all times and shouldn't ever be massively disadvantaged for a fight.
- The Ruinous Powers are back! Take the forbidden knowledge of the Fallen Empire for a test drive as you put this all-out offense Prayer book to use against other players in fast-paced PvP combat.
- Combat bracket worlds are making a return with revamped level ranges to keep worlds active while letting you play any build you'd like and always find a fair fight!
- Breaches are sticking around, with new bosses, adjustments to existing bosses, readjusted loot rarity and more. Find consistent action at set times while you try to earn powerful items, rack up Deadman points, or perhaps just pick off the lucky players getting all of the cool breach drops...
- Experience full-on carnage in a revamped multi-combat Finale, which sees competitors split into two factions for a time before the remaining players are left to fight amongst themselves in a free for all - can your alliances be trusted?
For a thorough rundown of all of the most important changes, check out this video from PureSpam and jonmp4!

Remember: January 30th! Mark your calendars and we'll see you there!
That's right, everybody's favourite content creator showdown is gracing our calendars once more.
We don't have much to share at this stage, we'll be leaving that to the brains of the operation (the wonderful SoloMission) and you can expect to hear more on the details of what's to come this May, before teams are drafted on May 31st ahead of the competition commencing on June 6th. This time around you'll see fresh faces alongside All-Stars veterans, tweaks to the format and in-event PvP incentives, and best of all...

Deadman: All-Stars 3 will have a live, in-person Finale!
This year competitors from all around the world will progress just like you're used to seeing, but before the iconic 'winner stays on' Finale that you know and love, we'll be flying all of the competitors out to Chicago where they'll face off in-person at a LAN event that you do not want to miss. Naturally, a LAN event isn't particularly exciting without a crowd full of people to really bring the energy - that's where you come in!
Over 4,000 tickets for the Deadman: All-Stars 3 Finale, live in Chicago on June 20th, go on sale with a 24-hour pre-sale for active players on Feb 20th, and a general release on Feb 21st!
Curious how you're considered an active player? It's as simple as being able to open the Jagex Launcher on the 20th, or being opted into email communications!
You'll have your chance to meet competitors and J-Mods alike, sit back and enjoy some live PvP action for the first time in years, get some drinks in with your friends, and cheer on your champions live! Plus, you can check out our exclusive Deadman merch lines. We can't wait to see you there and bring some of the magic of live events back to Old School.
Keep an eye on our Deadman: All-Stars website to grab your tickets for the Finale, and make sure to check out SoloMission on YouTube so that you don't miss his explainer video coming in May.
At long last, the saga that began with In Search of the Myreque reaches its epic conclusion. The Blood Moon Rises is the darkest Grandmaster quest yet, pitting players against the full fury of the vampyric lord himself, Lord Lowerniel Drakan.
You’ll rally the last remnants of the Myreque, uncover hidden secrets, and journey beyond the veil into the realm of Vampyrium, where the fate of both humans and vampyres will be decided once and for all.
Do you have what it takes to end the vampyre dominion? Or will the Blood Moon rise over your corpse?
If you can't see the video above, click here
We've delved into the dangerous, deadly, and frankly disgusting depths of all things Vampyrium in our Blood Moon Rises Summit blog. From our intention for the quest itself and its rewards, to the new landscape waiting for you, complete with fresh skilling opportunities, haunting flora and fauna, and new creatures to face - there's plenty for brave adventurers to sink their teeth into. That includes a truly gruesome post-quest boss: The Maggot King.
Of course, we wouldn't ask you to risk the brutal beings of Vampyrium without something to show for it. That’s why we’ve laid out each of the new rewards we’re proposing, giving you a clear look at what's on offer.
That’s all for now on this epic finale to the Myreque saga. Polls for the new skilling activities and the Maggot King boss will open later today, giving you the chance to decide whether these proposals move forward.
As we enter 2026, this year’s Winter Summit feels particularly special for Sailing. It was on our Winter Summit back in 2022, that we asked the community whether you wanted to see a new skill come to the game. Thousands of you voted. Passionate players who have stayed with us since then to guide our development efforts. And now three years on, it’s a reality. Sailing is in-game right now, and we couldn’t have done it without you.
Looking forward, we’ve got lots planned to improve Sailing and build upon the strong foundation we’ve made together.
We've detailed more on each point on our planned roadmap in our Sailing into 2026 blog, including our thoughts behind the ship combat rework, our learnings from the Sailing opinion poll, plus some extra quality of life additions to have your say on. We’ve also published a separate blog containing information about each Player Designed Island submission!
We'll be running greenlight polls for many of the new additions mentioned here immediately following the Winter Summit stream.
Lumbridge, the iconic city for all the fresh-faced arrivals and budding adventurers. Home to regular citizens of Gielinor, they chop the trees, work the fields, and tend to the animals of realm, except there has been a disturbance in the nearby cow pen and the steaks have never been higher! Distress runs through the herd and while they have always feared adventurers claiming their lives, a new threat has entered their domain bringing the beef...
This brute will become a repeatable boss once you have completed a brand-new, F2P, early game quest, with both being created for the sole purpose of a true 'low-level' boss. While we can all agree that Scurrius is great for teaching players about movement and switching your overhead Prayers, the stat requirements to reliably take him down can still feel a way off from when you first step foot into the mainland, so new players still have some work to do before getting a proper feel for combat in Old School. This boss however can be fought as early as your first few hours into your journey. The boss isn't too challenging, just make sure to stay light on your feet and watch your flank... your life is at steak!
While this did come from the most recent Game Jam, since it's a particular team favourite and essentially ready for release (thanks to the moo-gnificent work from the team involved), we thought it might be worth getting into the meat of things earlier than normal!
Should we add The Ides of Milk, a new early-game F2P quest that will give you access to a repeatable boss, as described in the blog?
And with that in mind, there is also an udderly delightable selection of rewards you can get from fighting this beast. Please note that all of the rewards being offered outside of the Cow Bell Amulet, Rump Steak and Bull Bones are members-only. We welcome feedback on what rewards you think are appropriate to be accessible in F2P, and we'd welcome exploring that further in a separate poll.
Upon quest completion you'll receive the Cow Bell Amulet. This is a handy teleport item landing you right into the iconic east cow pen, meaning you won't have to hoof it back to Lumbridge. Charged with Air Runes, this will give early game players a nice new teleport that will make travel a little bit nicer. It also lets you mik cows 1 tick quicker (6 instead of 7 ticks per milk). Very powerful, we know.
If The Ides of Milk is added, should a reward from the quest be the Cow Bell Amulet, an untradeable amulet that allows you to teleport to the east Lumbridge cow pen, as described in the blog?
The boss'es' most consistent drops will be a new consumable in the form Rump Steak which is a great new food for low-level accounts and heals 10 Hitpoints (similarly to Tuna).
The other consistent drop will be Bull Bones, which will work similarly to the Giant Bones from Obor and Bryophita (with a different amount of Prayer XP). Consider it bovine blessings (yes, we can already hear your boos).
The first of the uniques from the brute will be the fancy and fashionable Cow Slippers, which are sure to help you stand out from the herd. Purely vanity, purely fashion.
If The Ides of Milk is added, should a reward from the repeatable boss be the Cow Slippers, a tradeable cosmetic, as described in the blog?
Are you tired of keeping all of your milk in separate places? Have you always wanted a centralised, unlimited space for all of your milk-based products? Did this Game Jam team spend a full day centralising milk products in Old School's code base, having gone too far to turn back now? Look no further than the Bottomless Milk Bucket! This elite container will give you just that and let you upgrade everybody’s favourite grind: Butter Churning.
If The Ides of Milk is added, should a reward from the repeatable boss be the Bottomless Milk Bucket, an untradeable tool which lets you store milk and other milk-based products, as described in the blog?
Get the udder-hand and give yourself a nice early game boost in Melee Strength as you wield the deadly Mooleta. With stats equivalent to a Steel Defender, this will be a great early introduction to off-hands being pretty bloody good.
If The Ides of Milk is added, should a reward from the repeatable boss be Mooleta, an untradeable off-hand weapon which is similar in stats to the Steel Defender, as described in the blog?
Finally, the boss will have a pet... because even the biggest bull needs a little calf-panionship. There's also a set of Cowmbat Achievements to challenge rare breeds of adventurers!
But we couldn't have true level of cow-hesion without something for everyone. We'll leave the full surprise for you to find, but the boss has a darker secret lurking for those that a brave enough to leave the paddock for more dangerous pastures. It's your moooove.
Vote on inclduing The Ides of Milk and the rewards from the repeatable boss in this year's Winter Summit Poll!
2024 brought us Project Rebalance. 2025 brought us the Summer Sweep-Up. With both of these projects, you made clear your appreciation for us taking dedicated time to tackle gameplay issues, balance outliers or just common pain points that can fall outside the scope of our usual QoL updates.
Your appreciation was so great, in fact, that we're planning to make these Sweep-Ups an annual occurrence, so in 2026: look forward to our second Summer Sweep-Up!
For those of you not in the know, last year's Summer Sweep-Up saw us expand the Elemental Weakness system (first introduced in Project rebalance), adjust NPC defences and loot tables for a healthier future, make massive improvements to the Tombs of Amascut, rebalance gear, add individual Slayer Master block lists and loads more. The Sweep-Up represents a commitment to cleaning up parts of the game that need TLC, or perhaps haven't kept pace with more modern content offerings - bringing as much of Old School as possible in line with modern sensibilities but without losing that Old School identity.
We're not dead-set on any specific tweaks for this year, but your feedback over the years has provided a healthy handful of possible targets, so expect to see skilling improvements, combat feel/QoL tweaks, perhaps some light gear rebalancing, and a smattering of smaller changes that are bound to be the belle of the bullet point ball.
We'll have more to share throughout the year, so stay tuned and pack some sunscreen for another scorching hot Summer Sweep-Up, coming (unsurprisingly) mid-2026!
You may remember that when we first announced Grid Master last year, we spoke about the Bingo system being designed with a life beyond this event in mind. From Game Jam pitches to the wide range of player-run events we see across Old School RuneScape, it’s clear there’s a strong appetite for an in-game Bingo feature, for you, the community, to use.
We're excited to announce that this Bingo Community Feature will be coming to OSRS this Autumn, which means you can look forward to:
- A brand-new community Bingo system, built off of the same tech that made Gridmaster possible!
- The ability for you, your clan and your friends to make your own Bingo boards and compete against anybody you like to see who can complete them the fastest
- No more admin headaches! If you're already familiar with Bingo, then you can look forward to events free of arguments, drama, scrutinising every pixel on a submission to ensure it's legitimate - let us do the heavy lifting so you can enjoy your event!
We know you're all excited for this one, so make sure to have your say in the poll if you'd like to see Bingo become the talk of the town!
Back in October, we said ttyl to our New Renderer Beta to work on feedback and to help protect the launch of Sailing and the holiday period. We know many of you are hyped for HD, and so while we don't have anything big to drop as part of the Summit livestream, we wanted to keep you informed on where we're up to.
Simply put, we're still cooking. The New Renderer still has some issues for us to straighten out before we're ready to get it back in your hands. This work is current and ongoing, and while we can't give you a date yet, we want you to know it's a priority for us.
To reiterate what we've shared before, at the top of our to-address list are:
- Client stability: especially on mobile devices.
- Performance: while some devices have enjoyed huge performance gains in the beta, others were not where we'd want them to be.
- Character rendering: characters are still losing detail on many hard-won items, including kit like Skill Capes.
Our intention has always been that the New Renderer Beta won't return until we're confident it feels complete and we have squashed the bugs you helped identify.
Our current focus is releasing the New Renderer and retiring the legacy renderer option. This will let us untangle a lot of spaghetti code and puts us in a good place we can properly get back to HD. We're so excited to introduce you to Gielinor in HD, and we still have some wow moments we're keeping under wraps for now. Once we have fully switched to the New Renderer, we'll be able to bring you more HD-related updates.
On that note, we've made the decision to put a pause on our API project. We've been prioritising other major technical work ahead of the API, that have a more immediate impact on the overall player experience, such as finishing things like HD and further mobile improvements.
Throughout the project we saw so many enthusiastic community members eager and ready to get their hands on our API to begin developing. While our project is on pause, RuneScape's API project is just revving up. If you'd like to find out more about the project and how to get involved, head over to the plugins channel in the official RuneScape Discord server.
Back in July last year, we shared our intention to expand our server reach, including asking you where we should focus our efforts via a survey.
We're expecting to take the next step in this endeavour in the next few months, and we'll be heading for Latin America first. When our new servers are launched, players in the Latin America region should see improved connectivity, making for smoother gameplay and less frustrating grinds.
We don't intend to stop there. Once we're set up and comfortably supporting our new Latin America server, we'll be investigating where to cover next, using your feedback from our earlier survey as guidance. We're dedicated to better supporting 'Scapers all across the world, and we're really excited to see where else this work takes us! Keep an eye out for future blog posts as we'll be updating you along the way.
25 years ago in Gielinor, "fishing levels?" was the conversation starter. These days it still is, but we also we have a new challenger: "crab good". We went from asking "Where Varrock?" to knowing the lands by heart, and now we've even taken to the vast seas. We used to run home from school to play, now we run home from work and even get to grind on-the-go on mobile. Same adventure, different stage of life, and it still feels like home! The grind never left; it simply grew up with us.
This year marks the start of new adventures, new content, and new experiences for us to share together across Old School RuneScape, RuneScape and RuneScape: Dragonwilds. With that, we have a packed calendar of events, announcements, and nostalgia lined up to mark RuneScape’s 25th anniversary.
We kicked things off with a special cross-game celebration video. Take a look at the stacked year ahead, with bigger updates, more investment into all three games, and plenty of ways to enjoy your time in Gielinor... and there might be a few surprises along the way!
That's right, RuneFest is so back!
Being surrounded by fellow players who love the worlds of RuneScape is unlike anything else, and something so unique to our game. Of course we are bringing it back to you, and bigger than ever before.
This year we are so excited to be welcoming in more of you than ever as we're doubling the size and capacity of the event, with 6,000 tickets going up for sale this year. We'll also be bringing you more, taking everything you loved last year and turning it up to 11.
- Two permanent stages all weekend featuring the content you care about, as well as some exciting 25th Anniversary surprises
- Brand new skill chips
- More meet and greets
- Community meetups
- LAN area previews
- Exclusive and limited edition merch
- And yes, socks
For those of you unable to make it in person, we're working on fun ideas to bring more of the show experience to you digitally. We want you to feel part of the event whether you're at the show or tucked up and cosy at home.
Mark your calendars for October 3rd & 4th, at the NEC Birmingham, UK, and online. Tickets coming this Spring!
On January 4th, it was RuneScape's 25th anniversary! Plus, with Old School RuneScape’s 13th birthday just around the corner, February brings the perfect opportunity to unleash the celebration mode! So this February, you can look forward to a 25th Anniversary in-game event, complete with new rewards. We've previously said that special events like anniversaries or birthdays would be reserved to milestone years, and what a huge milestone 25 years of RuneScape is! So, next month, get ready to dust off your Party hats!
We’ll also be marking the occasion with a celebration livestream, so keep an eye on our socials for details on when it’s happening and what we’ve got planned.
Celebrate 25 years of RuneScape music with this collector’s vinyl set from Laced Records!
The set’s inner sleeves celebrates iconic bosses with original artwork from community artist Enkoro.
For many of us 'Scapers, music is a powerful part of our adventures through Gielinor. Commemorating a quarter of a century’s 'Scaping, this carefully curated tracklist offers a sonic journey through the years!
With 50 tracks across five LPs, the collection traces RuneScape’s musical evolution from its earliest, indelible, MIDI-based themes to the instrumentally richer, more expansive compositions of later years from both Old School RuneScape and RuneScape. From the iconic opening bars of the RuneScape theme to the unmistakable cheer of Sea Shanty II, these tunes have soundtracked first logins, early quests, voyages from Port Sarim to Karamja, and victories over some of the game’s toughest bosses. The collection concludes with music that transcends the different versions of the game.
The gold disc version is available exclusively from Laced Records. Pre-order yours now here to skill and chill to the game's iconic music!
A digital version of the album releases on all leading music streaming platforms on January 26th, so from tomorrow onwards you'll be able to listen and play tracks here.
