Come back at to check what this means for the future of RuneScape.
29 Oct - 11 Nov: Poll Explained
The poll ran from 29 October to 11 November marks one of the most important moments in RuneScape history.
We proposed a new future for the game led by integrity, where your achievements are based on merit, and the vast experiences offered within Gielinor can truly shine.
This is part of an era-defining shift for RuneScape where YOU casted the deciding vote - just as you did for the birth of Old School.
What Voting Yes Meant
Voting yes meant you wanted to see an integrity-led RuneScape powered by your own accomplishments through gameplay. Reaching 100,000 votes results in the following changes:
The full removal of Treasure Hunter from RuneScape
The removal of 225 Direct XP & Skilling Items from sale, reducing to two directly purchasable offerings:
Bonus XP, with capped storable limits per skill
Cosmetics with a more grounded visual identity
Delivery of a dedicated year-long integrity roadmap addressing core issues like the user interface, visual cohesion, auras, dailyscape and more
Unlocks the future release of Cosmetic Toggle Options to customise cosmetic visibility

A New Era for RuneScape's Future
We promised to make major changes to secure the long-term future of RuneScape - one where MTX is significantly reduced, integrity is back at the heart of the game, and where future success is defined by a growing community.
That journey started here. This is part of a wider belief from us on the need to build a stronger foundation for the next era of RuneScape. Since June, we've been rethinking how we design, fund, and evolve the game to make sure every decision supports fair, rewarding, and lasting gameplay, and this poll represents the first and most important step in restoring that balance.
Through our MTX Experiments, we're more confident than ever that dramatic, bold change is the right way forward. While we believe in this direction for the future of the game, we promised to validate any decision with the community.
Full Removal of Treasure Hunter
Treasure Hunter will be completely removed from RuneScape - no more Paid Keys, Free Daily Keys, Quest Keys or Daily Challenge Keys. It's gone, forever.
Removal of 225 Direct XP & Skilling Items From Sale
As part of the removal of Treasure Hunter, 225 Direct XP and Skilling related items will no longer be obtainable or sold - with only Bonus XP & Cosmetics available for direct purchase. This means no more purchasable Direct XP, no more Proteans, no more Dummies and a whole lot more.
Not only does this represent a significant reduction in MTX offerings, but it also represents a move to an integrity-led future for RuneScape. In keeping with that, previous MTX only items will not be added to gameplay sources either.
With the removal of Treasure Hunter, we'll make sure there's an extended amnesty period where you can use up any of these items before they are converted or removed. You can find the full list of items that will no longer be available for sale in the expandable box below.
If you are one of the players who usually depends on these items, we've heard your feedback. While change will have an initial impact, we'll be investing heavily in new, integrity-first content that creates more meaningful ways to play, progress and achieve your goals in healthier ways for the game.
While MTX has caused friction and frustration for many years, so have many of our other, non-MTX legacy issues left untouched over the years. This was no more apparent than in our recent Leagues, where players both new and returning faced some of these challenges head on.
We will invest in a year-long Integrity Roadmap that addresses the heart of issues that have long held RuneScape back - from UI, to onboarding, to dailyscape, revisiting the combat status quo and beyond. We'll also be looking at the balance of our XP progression too, ensuring each Skill is still a satisfying experience to level up with a significant reduction in MTX-relative skilling items.
And here's our promise to you. This will all be done without impacting one of the biggest and most ambitious content Roadmaps in RuneScape's history, which we'll announce this Roadmap alongside our Content Roadmap on in a very special RuneScape Ahead/Summit.
Purchasable Bonus XP
For those of you who told us you rely on MTX items to fit RuneScape into your life, we will continue to offer Bonus XP in the store as the only purchasable means to speed up progression.
Unlike Direct XP (Lamps etc.), Bonus XP does not detract from - or skip entirely - the core gameplay loops of RuneScape, requiring you to participate in the core gameplay and use items earned or acquired from other players to benefit.
To further reinforce this intent, there will be a per-skill cap on storable Bonus XP - encouraging you to use what you have through active play and discourage stockpiling.
We believe offering Bonus XP in a limited, healthy way strikes the right balance between offering a small level of support for the 54% of players that expressed a desire to retain a progression-friendly MTX option in our Experiment surveys, and avoiding the harm to game integrity that came with the removed MTX items.
Cosmetics
We'll continue introducing new gameplay-earnable and paid cosmetics to RuneScape, but with a few changes based on what we've learned in the Experiments.
We will have a firm focus on visual integrity for future cosmetics, ensuring they feel grounded and always true to the visual identity of Gielinor. This will be paired with less overt cosmetic effects that distract and clutter social areas within the game.
For those who want the purest experience, we'll also be giving you more control over cosmetic visibility through a new cosmetic toggle options - allowing you to disable seeing specific aspects of customisation.
