Summer Patches - This Week In RuneScape

Summer Patches - This Week In RuneScape

PSA: Players on iOS will be temporarily unable to log in to RuneScape after today's update (07/07).

This is due to a delay in our App Updates that are required to access the game following new engine changes. We expect the update to be available on Android later today, with iOS to follow on Tuesday or later. We sincerely apologise for this unexpected delay and any inconvenience this causes. We'll keep you updated in this post as the updates become available.

Update 15:09 BST - Android update has launched and is available.

Summer is in full swing and what a scorcher, this week we have new patch notes and a look ahead to next weeks Game health Update.

Upcoming Game Health Update
Keeping the health topped up.

Next week on July 14th we will be launching the "May Game Health Update" that we have been discussing with players. This update includes additional refinements based on feedback from the previous list.

Check out the linked news posts for a complete overview of the changes and the overall goals of these game health updates.

These changes are specifically aimed at reducing the influx of alchables and reorganizing various skilling supplies to help curb oversupply and allow these items to regain value over time.

While the full list will be included in next week’s Patch Notes, we wanted to give players a heads-up on the launch timing, along with a few additional adjustments made in response to recent feedback.

  • The removal of Spirit Weed Seeds, Inert Adrenaline Crystals, and Sirenic Scales from certain boss drop tables raised concerns among self-sufficient players, such as Ironmen, who rely on obtaining these items directly rather than through the Grand Exchange.
    • To address this, we’ve added new sources for these items across various Slayer monsters. While this won't fully replace the previous drop volumes from bosses, it provides an alternative path for players who prefer to gather these resources themselves.
      • Spirit Weed seeds - Automatons, Strykewyrms, Turoths, Gemstone Dragons (on task), Brutish Dinosaurs, Grotworms, Moss Giants, Flesh Crawlers, Cockatrices, Kurask & Rare Seed Drop Table
      • Inert Adrenaline Crystals - Gemstone Dragons, Brutish Dinosaurs, Liverworts & Wilderness Slayer Chest
      • Sirenic Scales - Additional Drop while on Dinosaur or Vile Bloom slayer task & Wilderness Slayer Chest
  • Following the changes to Arch-Glacor, there were concerns that it had become more rewarding to farm large quantities of low-mechanic kills, rather than encouraging players to progress toward higher-mechanic encounters and improve their efficiency.
    • To address this we have rebalanced the Arch Glacor multiplier to be more rewarding higher number of mechanics.
Mechanics Active Old Multiplier Previously Proposed New Multiplier
0 1 1 1
1 1.5 1.25 1.25
2 2 1.5 2
3 4 2 3
4 7 2.5 4
5 15 3 7
  • The reduction in Cannonball drops from Kerapac felt particularly steep, with a noticeable impact on self-sufficient players. This change disrupted a source of consistency for players aiming to maintain their combat resources through gameplay alone.
    • We have recrunched the numbers and have bumped the previous proposal up improving the lower and higher end while still maintaining the intended reduction.
Original proposal New Amount
Kerapac (Normal) 200 - 300 250 - 400
Kerapac (Hard) 400 - 800 450 - 950
  • In the previous proposal, we reduced the frequency of lower-value rare drops on Raksha’s loot table to improve the chances of receiving more valuable items like Spikes or Ability Codices. We also replaced some drops with Arbuck and Ciku seeds to introduce a new source of high-value common items. While player feedback indicated this was a step in the right direction, many felt the changes could have gone further and been more impactful.
    • To support this goal, we've removed Laceration and Blast Diffusion Boots from Raksha’s drop table. The intention is to concentrate more value into rare drops, ensuring that when players do receive a rare item, it feels more rewarding, rather than risking disappointment by hitting a lower-value drop within the rare pool. This change helps reinforce the excitement and impact of obtaining a rare reward from Raksha.
      • As a result of these changes, Laceration and Blast Diffusion Boots are now exclusively available from the dinosaur/vilebloom Slayer creatures on Anachronia. While reviewing this topic and considering player feedback, we also identified that the Bone Blowpipe—another rare reward from these dinosaurs—was underperforming in value due to its relative abundance from the Dream of Iaia. To address this, we’ve removed Blowpipe pieces from the Dream, making it a drop tied solely to Slayer content. This reinforces the value of engaging with Slayer and restores the integrity of the Blowpipe as a meaningful reward.

It’s important to note that these updates are part of an ongoing process.

Game Health Updates in RuneScape are broad, systemic changes designed to maintain and improve the overall experience and balance. While we strive to get things right the first time, the game’s complexity and scale mean that regular reviews and adjustments are essential.

We’ll continue to monitor the impact of these changes and make further refinements where needed to ensure RuneScape remains balanced and engaging for all players.

Patch Notes
Fixes and Improvements in this Week's Game Update

110 Crafting

  • When spinning masterwork thread, the stackable thread is now processed after the unstackable ingredients, to prevent it being dropped on the ground if the player has a full inventory.
  • The quantity of mined porcelain can now be increased by buffs such as the Honed perk and Shooting star effect.
  • Masterwork magic gloves and boots now require a pearlescent plate each rather than a pearlescent plate and a lined plate each, and the masterwork magic hat now requires 2 pearlescent plates.

General

  • Cleaned up the chat messages for the 'Connection lost - attempting to reestablish' Combat Achievement at Rasial.
    • Players will now only receive a chat message in 15 second intervals whilst making progress towards the Combat Achievement. More in depth timing can still be viewed with unfiltered chat.
  • Ritualist's Outfit can now be obtained from DXP Token Store and Austin's Shop in Um.
    • Austin the Taxidermist will sell you the outfit and head addon for Ectoplasm but you will need to bring him a Ghostly Impling in a jar first!
  • Ironman accounts can now use their own Prism of Salvation.
  • Players can now use a legendary pet's banking ability and the Pack Yak's Winter Storage ability beyond level 30 Wilderness, provided they are not opted into PvP.
  • Shark Soup is now correctly consumed when using the Eat Food ability.
  • A menu option to toggle receiving Strange Rocks has been added to the museum curators. This should save navigating the dialogue options in order to get to the toggle.
  • The Naturalist perk no longer overrides an existing Star Sprite mining buff.
  • Fixed an issue where charges were pulled from 3 sources when using the drag to alch function.
  • Fixed an issue where the 'A Bug in the System' achievement pop-up could be triggered multiple times after reading the Scruffy Note.
  • Fixed an issue with 'The Knight's Sword' quest information that mentioned the ability to smith blurite items was members only.
  • It is no longer possible to cast Alchemy spells on the Witch's Cat! Poor kitty!
  • Fixed an unreachable fishing spot in Shilo Village.
  • Fixed a graphical issue with the Gala Attire outfits that was causing some deformation on the belt sash.
  • Fixed an issue causing the Abyssal Prowler pet from scaling incorrectly during its dismiss animation.
  • Fixed an issue where 'Eye of Het II' was listed as a miniquest under the Archaeology skill tab.
  • Adjusted the colour of Powerburst of masterstroke potions on mobile devices.
  • Fixed an issue with a Waiko Fisherman NPC whose fishing line appeared to be wrapped around the rod, rather than into the water. As a result, the line itself has been removed, to give the impression of fishing taking place.
  • Note: there are other fisherman NPCs dotted around the place, however, none seem to be engaging in actual fishing, so the fishing line appears on their models as normal.
  • Removed floating objects from under a building located in the City of Um.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the 'Augmented Robe bottoms of the First Necromancer' to be invisible when the invention cog was displayed on the model.
  • Fixed an issue that was preventing certain Potion Pandemonium promo tokens from appearing on the Grand Exchange.
  • When cutting logs using Crystallise with the Dwarven Chainaxe set to resource mode, resources are converted to XP and charges for the Chainaxe are not used.
  • When mining ore using Crystallise with the Dwarven Ramhammer set to damage mode, XP is gained and the charges for the Ramhammer are not used.
  • Enabled the use of the Powerburst of Acceleration in the wilderness whilst opted out of PvP.
  • Resolved an issue that caused Rick Turpentine's neck to stretch.
