Happy New Year from the Old School RuneScape team! We're back, and more than a little excited for all that's in store for 2024. To kick off the year, we will be continuing to roll out our improved account systems.
In 2023 we introduced Jagex Accounts, a new and more secure account system that can help you protect your hard-earned gains and goodies. It features new and improved security and enhanced features, including:
- Stronger Passwords
- Enhanced Recovery
- Email Verification and Notifications
- Improved Bot Detection
- Remembered Sessions
- And much more besides!
Throughout 2023 we made improvements to Jagex Accounts, including:
- Increasing the number of characters to 20
- Giving you the ability to re-order your character list
- Making it possible to easily identify and import relevant characters to your account
That’s a lot of good reasons to make the switch – but wait, there’s more. If you have a Jagex Account you also gain extra Bank Space, get the Fancier Boots and can claim rewards from the Count Check random event!
So far, over 40% of active players have adopted Jagex Accounts, and that number continues to grow. Heading into 2024, the team will carry on improving Jagex Accounts with more upgrades to ensure the best experience for our players.
As part of this, from January 9th, all new characters must be created via a Jagex Account. This means anyone currently using a RuneScape account can still play as normal, but no new RuneScape accounts will be created and characters will instead be made under a Jagex Account.
Additionally in the near future, players using accounts created via a third party (e.g. Google), will need to transition to a Jagex Account if they wish to play with that account on a different platform.
If you haven't made the switch yet, but would like to upgrade to a Jagex Account, click the button below and get the best protection for your accounts today. If you’d like more information about the new system then check out the Jagex Account Support Centre.
