Settle in around the first ever Campfire as we catch you up on ongoing projects, ranging from game content to client.
You might ask "What is a Campfire, and how do they differ from a Summit?". Summits are momentous occasions, where major new projects are announced and we talk to you about our vision and plans for the game's direction. Campfires aim to complement Summits by giving us the opportunity to succinctly share new updates and information on the projects you already know about, tiding you over until the next Summit taking place very soon at RuneFest!
You already know about most of the projects we're sharing around this Campfire, but we wanted to take the time to check in on their progress with you. We've got updates on Blood Moon Rises, Summer Sweep-Up, The Fractured Archive, and Wyrmscraig to name just a few, but, we have also sprinkled in a couple of small surprises, too!

Mobile & Official Client Update
Since unveiling the Blood Moon Rises, we’ve seen plenty of conversation around what awaits in Vampyrium. Today, we’re excited to confirm that the update will be launching on Tuesday, June 30th!

The Blood Moon Rises is the finale to one of the oldest and most beloved stories in Old School. For over 20 years the Myreque storyline has delivered triumph and heartbreak in equal measure, but one way or another, it will all finally come to a definitive end with The Blood Moon Rises.
Alongside the quest itself, players can expect a brand-new region to explore in Vampyrium, packed with dangerous post-quest encounters, repeatable activities and entirely new opportunities for progression.
From battling horrifying creatures like the Maggot King and the Venators to mastering new skilling activities involving Bloodwood trees, Leechfin fishing, and the deadly Stymphike, Vampyrium is designed to feel like a whole new world waiting beyond the quest finale.
The sections below discuss some of the quest rewards and post-quest content in detail, so if you’d prefer to avoid spoilers, consider skipping the sections below until after release.
Before setting foot in Vampyrium, here’s what you’ll need to prepare...

Once you embark on the quest, be warned: some of the battles beneath the Blood Moon are among the most challenging quest bosses we’ve created in Old School thus far...
We’re looking forward to seeing players tackle the challenge on release day as strategies emerge and the race for the world-first completion unfolds.
A word to the wise: some mechanics in Vampyrium may not behave quite the way players expect. As you venture deeper beneath the Blood Moon, you may encounter enemies that challenge the usual rules of combat...

That said, if the above has you fearing for the fate of your quest cape, then worry not! While The Blood Moon Rises is expected to be a challenging quest, it is ultimately still of Grandmaster tier. We're not expecting this to be a huge difficulty jump over existing Grandmaster quests.
While difficulty can often be subjective, and the type of difficulty found in The Blood Moon is very different to that of Desert Treasure II, our expectation is that anyone capable of completing that will also find success here.

We partnered with the incredible illustrator Enkoro to celebrate the upcoming launch of The Blood Moon Rises with this stunning artwork. Available to download for you desktop wallpaper here!
Completing the Blood Moon Rises quest is, of course, only the beginning.
The land unlocked through the quest, Vampyrium, is packed with dangerous encounters, repeatable activities, and entirely new rewards. From unsettling new creatures roaming the region to skilling activities woven directly into its harsh landscape, there’s a whole new world waiting to be explored.
Across previous blogs, we’ve shared some of the dangers and opportunities waiting throughout the land, and you can read more about these in our Overview, Rewards, and Leechfin Fishing, blogs.
As players venture deeper into Vampyrium, they’ll encounter entirely new skilling activities. Bloodwood trees offer a fresh Woodcutting experience, Leechfin introduce a unique new fishing method from Vampyrium’s waterways, and the deadly Stymphike bring a new Hunter challenge to the region.

These activities aren’t isolated distractions either. Resources gathered throughout Vampyrium feed directly into the wider ecosystem, including powerful new ranged ammunition upgrades and equipment progression tied to the region’s unique ecology.
Click the dialogue box to continue through the text.
Alongside skilling content, players can also expect dangerous encounters, including the Venators, a deadly new Slayer creature offering an alternative method of hunting Blood shards, and the grotesque Maggot King boss encounter.
Those capable of surviving Vampyrium’s dangers will be rewarded with powerful new equipment, including:
- A best-in-slot ranged amulet upgrade - Necklace of Rupture
- A devastating new crush special attack weapon - The Crimson kisten
- An ammunition upgrade for all arrows - Seeker Arrows
- Lots of resources and equipment tied directly to the region’s activities and encounters.
Some encounters in Vampyrium won’t allow players to simply stand their ground and trade blows. The Maggot King is a new solo boss encounter available after the quest's completion. Survival will rely on quick repositioning, reacting to environmental threats, and adapting as the arenas shift, hazards spread, and pressure ramps up throughout the fight.

Without giving too much away, expect encounters that demand awareness just as much as damage output.
After years of sacrifice, betrayal, and bloodshed, the Blood Moon Rises brings the long-running Myreque storyline to its climactic conclusion.

If you can’t see the image above, click here!
Whether you’re preparing for dangerous new encounters, exploring the region’s darker corners, or diving into its skilling activities and rewards, we can’t wait to see what you uncover beneath the Blood Moon.
The Blood Moon Rises arrives on June 30th.
Until then, sharpen your stakes, prepare your supplies and keep an eye on the shadows...
Back in 2024, we began releasing changes from a Game Jam project called Project Rebalance, which promised sweeping QoL changes to parts of the game or entire pieces of content aimed at revitalising and modernising older content, addressing common pain points in the 'player journey', and future-proofing areas like gear balance to enable healthy progression and reward releases in the future. Project Rebalance morphed into 2025's Summer Sweep-Up, which only went on to highlight how much these discussions about and changes to existing content can be just as impactful as new content releases, so it's becoming a staple!
Next week, we'll share a detailed blog on everything that we're eyeing up for this year and that we're eager to hear your thoughts on. We've been inundated with your suggestions over the last couple of weeks and while we can't include absolutely everything, it is reassuring to see a good number of those suggestions already on our shortlist. Keep an eye out for the full blog for information on:
- Changes we'd like to make to various skilling methods, including some long-overdue improvements to core Hunter training.
- Gear rebalancing that focuses overwhelmingly on buffs to items that aren't living up to their potential.
- Improvements to common PvM pain points, including the infamous red prison (that's the Corrupted Gauntlet for those of you not in the know).
- New Agility shortcuts and improvements to existing ones.
- And more!
So mark your calendars for next week, find a shaded spot or a cosy beer garden, pop your sunscreen on and get ready for a scorcher of a Summer Sweep-Up!
The call to adventure rings loudly, answered by many. Some seek glory, others chase fame, while a few are drawn by an inescapable summons from the void beyond. Though some find what they desire, many perish in pursuit of it. And while the fortunate rest peacefully in death, the unlucky are condemned to linger between the living and the dead, bound to something far greater, and far darker.
But that's just myth, right? A story you tell your friends around a campfire in the dead of night to send shivers down their spines... Right?
Later this year, we're releasing our sequel quest. The Graveyard.
This Master tier quest finally brings a new chapter to a long-forgotten story, Olaf's Quest.
Requirements
- Completion of: Olaf's Quest, The Fremennik Exiles, Pandemonium
- Level 65 Sailing
- Level 65 Agility
- Level 56 Woodcutting
- Level 54 Fletching
Rewards:
- 3 Quest Points
- 35,000 Agility XP
- 15,000 Runecraft XP
- 35,000 Sailing XP
- 10,000 Fletching XP
- 2 Lamps offering 75,000 XP in Attack, Strength, Defence, Hitpoints, or Prayer.
- Access to The Graveyard.
Question 7:
Should we introduce a new Master-level quest, The Graveyard? This is a sequel quest to the Fremennik quest series.
While we're not here to spoil any details, alongside the Graveyard, we're also planning to release a new Agility training method. You'll need to take on the challenge of traversing a frigid and haunted, long-forgotten cavern!
A path with two choices, one safe for the more cautious among you or for those of you looking to answer the call and test your reflexes, you'll have a more dangerous route to traverse.
Our target is those between level 65 and 80 Agility here, with a hybrid pattern of intensity across the course - similar to the Colossal Wyrm!
Question 8:
Should we add a new Agility update alongside the Graveyard, targeting between 65 and 80 Agility? This includes a hybrid pattern of intensity, similar to the Colossal Wyrm.
Following on from our first Community Event: Grid Master, it's time to finally give YOU the tools to create your own Bingo events in-game.
If you missed it, we’re looking to bring you a system for a bingo feature that will let you host or join the popular player-ran events from within the game. While this system was first pitched as a Game Jam idea, we really leaned into it with Grid Master, building an interface that will set the foundations for this project!
While we expect this to be a popular feature for clans, you won’t need to be part of one to join in on the fun! That means anyone, anywhere can host or join a game of Bingo, hopefully giving bingo admins an easier time too!
To clarify, this will not include any of the XP boosts or rewards like you had during Grid Master, but just the system of creating, managing and taking part in Bingo.
The team is currently in pre-production, and we just need your approval to get stuck in to creating the system for you all! We're super excited to get this in your hands and can't wait to see you all creating your own bingo events.
Question 9:
Should we create the 'Bingo' system? This system would give players the ability to host, manage and take part in player-run Bingo events.
It's time to brush up on those PvP skills!

Pete Kayer - whose name is a working title but one that we're growing increasingly fond of - has decades of experience navigating the Wilderness, and he's decided that it's time to hang up his AGS, settle down in Ferox Enclave and impart some of his wisdom unto anybody willing to hear him out. For any bright-eyed students, he'll offer interactive challenges that will test foundational skills to help you fight or better survive against other players, he'll test and train your ability to:
- Switch your overhead prayers in response to opponent gear switches, including 'fake switches' or fakies and sneaky weapons like the Voidwaker.
- Switch your equipment to hit your opponent with a style that they're not protecting against.
- Eat different types of food in the same tick, more commonly referred to as 'combo-eating', so you can top yourself up quickly in case of incoming damage.
- How to utilise Special Attacks in PvP, including so-called '1-tick' Specials and combinations with staple weapons like the Granite Maul.
- Escape from attackers utilising snaring or freezing effects.
- Combine all of the above into a challenging and risk-free encounter for you to return to whenever you'd like to practise.
- And more!
Our annual surveys suggest that the majority of Old School players enjoy watching PvP content and do so regularly, while a significant number players believe that some better tutorialising and onboarding for PvP would help them feel more confident engaging in PvP or PvP-adjacent activity. We know this isn't a silver bullet and isn't going to magically solve every grievance that players have with PvP in 2026, but there's no better starting point to build up those fundamentals than here: a totally risk-free setting, using gear provided by Pete Kayer, with nobody around to flame you for missing a prayer - everybody starts somewhere!
This should kit you out with what you need to know before heading into places like Last Man Standing and putting those skills to the test, where you might gain enough confidence to give the real deal a go out in the Wilderness. These skills are also largely transferrable to PvM, so even if you just want to brush up on your switches and get proper moment-to-moment feedback from Pete Kayer then this would be well worth your time.
If you'd like to see Pete Kayer share his wisdom with the world, then let us know by voting in our greenlight poll, then we can work through more of the finer details with all of you once development gets underway! Stay safe out there, and go easy on us in the Wilderness once you're all trained up!
Question 10:
Should we create a PvP Tutorial as outlined in our recent Campfire? This would be a series of interactive challenges to work on key skills like Prayer switching, gear switching, combo-eating and escaping other players, with specific details and rewards to be locked in at a later date.
Old School's fourth raid, The Fractured Archive, is set to release later this year and things are shaping up wonderfully!
As is always the case with a raid, we're going to be a little light on details so that we don't spoil things and undermine your day one excitement, but we have got some behind-the-scenes clips to share showing off some animations for one of the raid's many different bosses: Bork (accompanied by Smork).
If you can’t see the video above, click here!

While they might not be the brightest bunch, don't underestimate these foes, they're sure to test your co-ordination and your footwork, so bring your comfiest shoes to tango or risk being utterly crushed in Bandos' name.
You might also remember the Archive Guardian, who we showed concept art for at our last Summit. This ancient being is the raid's first encounter, and it's more welcoming than you might expect - the Guardian will literally roll out a red carpet for you... in a sense.

Outside of the raid itself, we're also getting ready to share our first rewards proposal with you in a blog releasing in mid-June - we already have the numbers and ideas together, we're just putting the finishing touches on some concept art so that you can really envision how they might look and feel, which is just as important as any damage calculation!
We're having an absolute blast working on The Fractured Archive and can't wait to share more, you'll certainly have your fair share of opportunistic opponents to take down so that you can preserve Guthix's most precious collection, and we're excited to work with all of you to figure out which of these prized-possessions you might be able to walk away with for yourself…
Following the release of our Brazilian game worlds, we're delighted to announce that more new game worlds are coming soon!

If you can’t see the image above, click here!
We'll be adding worlds in:
- South Africa
- Japan
- Singapore
We'll continue to explore the feasibility of more game worlds in new locations. Our goal is to bring better ping regardless of where you play! We'll be sure to keep you updated on when these worlds will launch.
If you're curious about the work involved behind-the-scenes when more game worlds in different regions, check out our Brazilian Game Worlds release blog.

The Infrastructure J-Mods
Our next Game Jam is just around the corner! If you're new to the Old School Game Jams, this is where J-Mods spend a couple of weeks working on passion projects, letting their creative juices flow and sometimes trying new disciplines! In the past we've seen quests, functionality updates, backend process developments, audio exploration and so much more.
We always say that when a project has been done for Game Jam, it might never make it to the game. While this will always be the case, this Game Jam we're looking to focus on smaller projects that can be pretty much wrapped up in the two week period, so that we can introduce them to the game in a more satisfying timeframe.
As usual, we will share the projects worked on in a blog, but we wanted to set expectations this time around. We don't anticipate any huge pieces of content like high-level quests or purely explorative work. We're more likely to see small but handy features like QoL updates.
We're keen to hear your thoughts on this approach for our next Game Jam, so let us know across our social posts!
